Abstract
Incident analysis is one of the most important and complex processes in assessing the safety of nuclear reactors. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the dynamic behavior of the Isfahan Research Miniature Neutron Source Reactor during the reactivity injection incident. In this paper, using the capabilities of the RELAP5 code, the core behavior of the reactor during the reactivity injection incident is evaluated. Finally, the results have been compared with references in order to verify the information with high accuracy. Results showed that due to the injection 3.6 (mK) reactivity, the power with a very high slope begins to increase so that after 268 seconds the power to about 100 (kW) (99.9 (kW)). Also, due to the injection of 6.05 (mK) reactivity a sudden rise in power will occur.
